Permanent make up treatments introduction

Micropigmentation Treatments (Permanent Make Up)

This is a very exciting cosmetic and remedial technique the results of which are most pleasing and quite often stunning. This is why Dawn decided to introduce and teach micropigmentation skills to a few very carefully selected practitioners both in the United Kingdom and overseas.
Micropigmentation can be used for creating a completely new eyebrow shape or for filling in or extending the eyebrows. Have you always fancied a beauty spot? (very fashionable right now) then it can be yours for the asking. Perhaps you have a problem with your lipstick - does it tend to "fray at the edges" after it's been on for a while? A pigmented lipliner will not only remain in place but it will keep your lipstick within the line thus giving a beautiful contour to the mouth. The technique can also be used to correct an uneven lipline, some clients like to have the entire lips coloured.
Just imagine - wouldn't it be wonderful to wake up each morning with two perfectly matched eyebrows or to be able to go swimming and still have your brows and eyeliner in place when you emerge from the water?
The treatment is performed by introducing natural colour pigments into the skin, using a fine needle. This is done with a special electrical machine and should only be carried out by a qualified practitioner. Clients should be aware that although this is considered a permanent procedure the colour is likely to fade after a time and may therefore require further enhancement.
Remedial micropigmentation is invaluable for concealing scars which sometimes follow cosmetic surgery, and in particular for pigmenting the areola after breast reconstruction. Dramatic improvements can be achieved where micropigmentation is used to improve facial alignment after an accident, or for someone with a hair lip. Patients with vitiligo can be helped and are offered personal tuition in applying and controlling the colour for themselves. Dawn treats both cosmetic and paramedical clients at her home in Retford, near Doncaster.

A skin patch test must be taken prior to the first treatment. This can be done on the initial consultation. Clients for whom distance is a problem, or who would prefer to do the patch test at home themselves may telephone the administration office on +44 (0)1777 860500 and request a patch test and instructions. Their consultation will then be given at the start of their first treatment.
Clients are not under any obligation to proceed with the treatment.

Frequently asked questions about permanent make up

Is The Procedure Safe?

The answer to this question is YES - providing that the treatment is performed by a thoroughly trained and qualified person.
If the procedure is not conducted in a professional and hygienic manner the following might occur:
  • Uneven application - resulting in unevenness of shape and/or colour
  • An unnatural or inappropriate colour
  • Infection due to inadequate consideration being given to hygiene

Are There Any Risks?

There are always some risks with any form of treatment but these may be minimised or eliminated altogether by the application of the correct procedures.
  • A cornial abrasion or burn can happen if anaesthetic gets into and is allowed to remain in the eye. In both cases, immediate hospital treatment is essential
  • The eye could be damaged when applying eyeliner but only if treatment is performed in unsuitable surroundings or conditions and without the necessary care
  • An allergic reaction is always a possibility but is extremely rare. All clients should be given a test involving the pigments prior to treatment
  • Pigments have been known to change colour. This has always been an extremely rare occurrence and in recent years the quality of the pigments and other factors has so improved that there have been significantly fewer occurrences worldwide
PLEASE NOTE:
When eyebrows or lips are being treated the client MUST BE SEATED IN AN UPRIGHT POSITION AND NOT LYING ON A TREATMENT COUCH. When the face is in repose most lines, wrinkles etc. "disappear". It is therefore only when the body is in a natural upright position that the correct placement of the pigment can be achieved

Is The Treatment Painful?

Pain thresholds do vary from one person to another. A typical anaesthetic, usually in the form of a cream, is normally offered to clients. - Some will not need it but for others it might help.

What If I Do Not Like The Result?

This is a question that should not and need not arise. It is very important that you be given a thorough consultation and are able to agree with your therapist the colour, the shape and the cost before the treatment is commenced.
For clients who have no eyebrows because of alopecia or excessive plucking there are sets of eyebrow shapes that are rather like stencils. Using these alternative shapes can be tested and painted in so that the client can have an ideal of the final result.
The therapist will always start the treatment using a lighter pigment than that chosen as the final colour. It allows the client to become used to the colour and for it to be darkened to exactly the required shade. This is why two visits will be advised for the complete treatment and included within the fee.

Introduction to training with Dawn Cragg MBE

At last! A custom designed course offering intensive practical instruction, structured to the personal needs of the individual student is offered by Dawn.
Micropigmentation is a very exciting and rewarding treatment, which you must have noticed has attracted considerable media attention. It is becoming very popular because, it can be used for several remedial treatments as well as purely cosmetic use. The facial applications that you will learn on your first course will be eyebrows, eyeliner, eyelash enhancement, lipline and beauty spots.
Although there is no doubt of the demand for the camouflage of skin blemishes, scars, vitiligo, during your initial training you will be introduced to basic techniques of correction and remedial work on the face. For the more difficult treatments practical experience of facial micropigmentation is essential, and then you will be able to extend your range of treatments with the advanced/camouflage course.
We are UK distributors of the Mei-Cha range of natural pigments and equipment and also the Magic Styl’o 24 hour make-up pens. Those undertaking the training are supplied with their latest machine and accessories, which are designed to comply with the most stringent of health and hygiene legislation. You will also receive 20 (12cc) bottles of the most popular pigments - we train with both the Mei-Cha Micro Colours and Mei-Cha Image range of colours.
Dawn is an International Trainer for Mei-Cha and conducts all her UK- based courses personally at her home in Retford, which is on the London-Edinburgh East Coast line and close to the A1 near Doncaster.
It may be possible for salon owners and therapists to arrange to have the additional treatments included within their existing professional liability cover. In any case, insurance cover should not be a problem for graduates of Dawn Cragg MBE and MTEC Ltd. We maintain separate product liability insurance cover on all pigment products supplied.
Should you decide - and we hope that you do - to learn this interesting creative and profitable art, please 'phone as soon as possible so that we can arrange dates. The next step will then be to return your registration form in order to reserve your place.
If you would like to discuss any aspect of the training further please do not hesitate to contact Dawn.
We hope to hear from you soon.
